Somehow The Batt (the A&M campus paper) actually got a sports article right. The reason everyone is so nervous is that, assuming the UK job is offered, Billy G has to choose between coaching a "storied program full of legends, or [going] down as the most celebrated coach in the program's history." From a objective standpoint, there is not clear winner. Let's pretend you went to A&M, you are coaching football at Virgina Tech, and Notre Dame offers you a job. What would you do?

well if you go to notre dame, people will always be able to say that you wouldn't have accomplished as much without the money, etc. No one wants that. clearly the answer is to stay :-)

Good point. I think there is also the "lost in the crowd" factor at storied programs. Unless you are amazing no one will ever remember you coached there. However everyone will always remember the 1st great coach (K, Knight, Smith).

Aggie Sports Blog,

Nice site. We of the BearMeat Editorial Board are interested in adding you to our list of "Oso Amigos". Do you accept this honor? Though we have been in a perpetual state of war with your school since 1899, we think a blog armistice is in order. What say you?

Also, what of the BCG to Arkansas rumors? Would BCG depart College Station to live in Nolan Richardson's shadow? Would he be comfortable in a state known for another Billy C (Clinton)?

[P.S. Our blog comes highly recommended from Deadspin and 12thManChild, who is the godfather to one of our editor's first born son, Teaff Neff]

Billy to Arkansas. For some reason I am hearing an Iverson-ish "We talkin about Arkansas man, not Kentucky, not Kentucky... we talkin about Arkansas." It just seems so absurd. Even if he wanted to go there wouldn't he wait it out to see it UK makes an offer?

Yeah, that makes sense. BCG sure is upwardly mobile. We thought him a great fit with A&M. If only Baylor could pay Ark & UK money for that level of talent. Before he's done, there will be 3 or 4 arenas named after him. Hopefully he won't become another Larry Brown/Rick Pitino wandering soul. I've always preferred coaches who stick it out with a program that they helped put on the map.

I know Bill Bryne will do everything he can to keep Billy G in College station. It will come down to the type of coach Billy wants to be.

Even without the bank roll, Drew is doing an amazing job. Then factor in the damage Bliss did to your program. Yall have had 4-star guys every year, and Bruce was a great pickup.

r,

Thanks for the comments about Drew. Our losses were alot closer this year, but even after snagging a McDonald's All-American, we still finished 4-12 (again) in conference. We think this next year is Drew's do-or-die year. He's a great guy and a superb recruiter, but he just can't close out games. Case in point is our game against t.u. in the Big12 Tourney. Embarrassing. Regardless, thanks for the kind words. We sure could use some wins up on our stretch of the Brazos.
